Hello and welcome to WhichLaptop, today we’ll be showing you the best laptops for animation students in 2021!

Finding the right laptop that will run your chosen animation program well with buttery smooth frame rates can be quite a struggle. As well as this, you have to consider the portability of the machine if you’re taking it to class with you!

Luckily, I’ve compiled the 3 best laptops for you to use after hours of research and performance testing, I only recommend products that I believe in!

Up first is the Razer Blade 15.

Now Razer creates stunning machines with incredible performance that rival the likes of a Macbook.

It comes in an incredibly sturdy CNC aluminium case which houses an impressive cooling system to ensure the powerhouse of hardware that’s in it performs to the best it can.
There are various models to choose from which alongside the intel core i7 5Ghz can include an RTX 3060 or 3070 with screen refresh rate upgrades from 144Hz to 165Hz.

It’s worth noting that the cheaper base models have some compromises, with less impressive displays, no card reader, downgraded RGB and a dramatically downsized battery. So it’s up to you to decide which is most important to you!

The OLED screen is stunning so it really is a great investment when picture quality is of great concern to you when animating (which it should be).

Next up is the Acer Nitro 5

The Nitro 5 comes with a 9th Gen intel core i5 boostable to 4.1Ghz, 8GB of RAM with the option to upgrade to 16GB and a NVIDIA 1650 GPU. More importantly it comes with a 256GB SSD. It is simply paramount that you choose a laptop that has an SSD in it as it will speed up your workflow considerably. This laptop will be able to more than handle moderately complex scenes that feature a vast number of polygons, lights etc…

This laptop also looks pretty sleek with a full HD IPS display and a backlit keyboard for ease of working in lower light conditions. This is a perfect entry level choice and with 8 hours of battery life, you’ll never have to worry about it dying.

And my top pick is the Acer Predator Helios 300.

This incredible machine comes packing an GTX 1660, 9th gen intel core i7 6-core processor boostable to 4.5ghz, 16b DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD.

That 6-core processor specifically will benefit you in any animation software you’re using, allowing it to run incredibly smoothly. One of its unique selling points is the incredibly fast 144hz refresh rate – meaning pretty much anything you’re doing on this machine will be super smooth.

It has a rather subdued gaming aesthetic. Turning off the RGB of the keyboard will make this thing look like any other laptop.

With a respectable 6 hours battery life, you’ll definitely not have to worry about it dying when you’re out and about.
