Hello and welcome to WhichLaptop, today we’ll be showing you the best laptops to use for Solidworks in 2021!

Now you might find it hard to find the right laptop to use with solid works if you’re not too familiar with computer hardware such as CPU’s where brands will market themselves as the ‘best’ for solidworks.

Luckily, I’ve compiled the 3 best laptops for you to use after hours of research and performance testing, I only recommend products that I believe in!

Firstly we’ll start with our budget laptop of choice the Acer Nitro 5

This laptop really is the baseline for what you need for using Solidworks – going for specs any less than this and you’ll fall into problems.

Now this is the perfect budget choice for students and professionals. The Nitro 5 comes with 8GB of RAM, with an option to upgrade to 16GB, a 9th Gen intel core i5 boostable to 4.1Ghz and a NVIDIA 1650 GPU. More importantly it comes with a 256GB SSD. It is simply paramount that you choose a laptop that has an SSD in it as it will speed up your workflow considerably and the GTX 1650 that this thing includes will be perfect for tackling SolidWorks.

This laptop loops pretty sleek with a full HD IPS display and a backlit keyboard for ease of working in lower light conditions. This laptop would also be great for some light gaming on the side if that’s what you’re into! This is a perfect entry level choice and with 8 hours of battery life, you’ll never have to worry about it dying.

Our next pick is the best portable laptop option – the surface book 3.

This is actually the only officially certified non workstation laptop to run solidworks meaning you can trust the reliability of this machine.

You also get two models to pick from, a 13” model including a GTX 1650 and a 15” including the 1660Ti with the latter being the most expensive. You also get the choice of available SSD’s ranging from 256GB to 2TB.

This is a perfect choice for professionals and students alike. The detachable screen allows the tablet to be carried into a meeting or lecture with ease and note taking with the optional stylus is easy.

And our overall best laptop is the Acer Predator helios 300.

This incredible machine comes packing an RTX 2060, 10th gen intel core i7 6-core processor boostable to 5ghz, 16b DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD.

It’s worth noting this laptop is primarily geared towards professionals dealing in the range of 500+ parts when modeling, it is rather overkill for students but if you do want to make the investment know that you’ll be pretty solid when looking for your grad job.

The 10th gen i7 and RTX 2060 will be incredible inside solidworks and yes you can find cheaper alternatives with that included 2060, but it most definitely won’t come close to the rest of the specs on this machine.

It is also very capable of running triple A games at medium-high settings comfortably so if you’re a gamer then this could be an added bonus for you!
