Hello and welcome to WhichLaptop, today we’ll be showing you the best laptops for architecture students in 2021!
Finding the right laptop as an architecture student cant be difficult if you don’t know what you’re specifically looking for. Revit if you’ll be using it for example is one of the least hardware demanding CAD softwares so you can be quite conservative with your budget!
I’ve compiled the 3 best laptops for you to use after hours of research and performance testing, I only recommend products that I believe in!
Links to all the products will be in the description below.
Up first is my best budget pick – the ACER Nitro 5!
Now this is the perfect choice for students and professionals. The Nitro 5 comes with 8GB of RAM, with an option to upgrade to 16GB. For reference, 8GB is more than enough for buildings up to 10,000 floor areas in Revit but if you’re planning on larger projects, then think about upgrading.
The Nitro 5 comes with a 9th Gen intel core i5 boostable to 4.1Ghz and a NVIDIA 1650 GPU. More importantly it comes with a 256GB SSD. It is simply paramount that you choose a laptop that has an SSD in it as it will speed up your workflow considerably.
This laptop looks pretty sleek with a full HD IPS display and a backlit keyboard for ease of working in lower light conditions. This laptop would also be great for some light gaming on the side if that’s what youre into! This is a perfect entry level choice and with 8 hours of battery life, you’ll never have to worry about it dying whilst you’re on site.
My next pick is our best portable option – the Surface Book 3.
I’m recommending this because I know there’s a bunch of architects that like to travel with their laptops to sites or into lectures. Therefore, I had to factor in size, weight and performance.
This is a perfect choice for architects who love to use a stylus to draw on the included tablet to illustrate ideas. This thing is a touch screen as you’d have guessed and features a fully rotatable screen and detachable keyboard. The versatility is unchallenged and it features a NVIDIA 1660Ti, a choice of SSDs ranging up to 2TB and a 10th gen intel core i7 CPU.
With an incredible 17.5 hours of battery life this really is the perfect blend of portability and performance.
And my final pick is the ASUS TUF 15.6”.
It’s around $60 more expensive than the previously mentioned Acer Nitro 5 however with faster clock speeds and more cores, it’ll make rendering and drawing much faster.
It includes a 10th Gen intel i5 processor boostable up to 4.5ghz, 16gb DDR4 RAM, a GTX 1650ti and a 1tb SSD.
This thing not only performs well, but it looks great too! With a 6 hour average battery life you won’t have to worry when taking it on the move! The keyboard is once again backlit so you won’t have to worry when working in darker environments and the screen features a anti-glare coating so it’ll mitigate most light sources.
So there you have it guys, our 3 recommendations for the best laptops for architecture students in 2021. Please check out the links to these fantastic products down below!
